Week 03 | Notes

Hello Designers!

Here is what is going on, what should be going on and what has been going on with Senary Design...

We’ve finished our team introduction presentation, and we’ve also chosen our new logo!

Our introduction presentation is as follows:

Our meeting is set!
We are meeting with Colleen at the San Francisco Center for the Book located at:
300 De Haro Street, San Francisco, CA 94103
Please be there promptly at 1:00pm, and if you are going to be late please contact at least one other team member.
We should all have a notebook and pen/pencil so that we can take notes on everything that goes on within our meeting.

Project Specs:

"We are looking for 2 small brochures to describe our printing and binding programs at the center, that will be eventually replacing our larger catalog and funneling our students to the web for more details on the classes we offer."

The brochure should be denominations of 11” x 17” paper.

Homework Week Three:

* 5 brochure types (different folds) using paper in denominations of 11” x 17”

Future Goals:

* Remember the first class discussion about how we would like to keep our team successful this quarter!
* Research our client and the services they offer to better familiarize yourself with what our clients want to promote with their brochures.
* Decide who will take on task of presentation layout (week 2 will determine that)
* Be on the lookout for 50 sheets of 8.5" x 11" paper for Week 08 (can be found at Kelly Paper, Flax, Pearl, foxriverpaper.com samples, etc.) NOTE: You will be sharing your paper.

Logo Final Choice | note: three vote per person, cannot vote for yourself

Please comment to this post with your top 3 picks. Please post no later than Saturday evening. All votes with be counted, and we will determine our new Logo/Identity.

Note: Please be working on getting the rest of your homework ready for Monday!

* 1 written bio-paragraph (per team member) for our presentation
* 1 Business card (per team member) with only one color: 100% K(Black), no gradients, value changes, etc., only vector/bitmap (no grayscale), 1 sided, 3.5" x 2" or smaller, suggested type size of 8pt, line weight minimum of 1pt, create type to outlines!
* 1 list of ideas for what we should include in our "Who We Are", "Mission Statement", and "Client info" for our presentation
* Bring $40 for film, plates, printing fee

Week 01 | Notes

Hello Designers!

Here is what is going on, what should be going on and what has been going on with Senary Design...
Team Manager: Chris Fuzi - Fully able to inform of status of projects, knows the status of each team member (design and attendance)
Communication Manager: Erika/Autumn - Updates email/wiki/blogs, ensures all team members receive all information and updates / Compiles and sends weekly grade email
Client Contact: Reed Korn - Main contact with the client, be the speaker for the team for all client interactions
Team Manager/Client Contact Assistant: Katrina - Introduced to the client and ready to step in.
Presentation/Printing Manager: Ethan Koenig - In charge of presentation design and management, consistent printing and presentation of client materials, organization and preparation of files for letterpress printing

* 3 logo concepts (per team member), 3"x3" or larger (choose from thumbnails as your best 3 ideas) --Please include ideas how these logos can translate into our presentation for the little icons near each of our paragraph introductions. These logo ideas should be placed as jpgs/gifs/pngs onto our blog (******if you are unsure of how to post them, please see the instructions below******)
* Once Logo Concepts start coming in on Monday Week 02, please take time to look at other team members posts and give critique. Let's make sure at least every person gets a comment.

Please place all files in Faculty drive in order for the team to have access to them! Also Please email a copy to the team email: senarydesign@gmail.com in order to have an online copy always available. (Note: for the Logo concepts Please place them in during other classes Week 02, just so we can have backup files on the drive)

* Please make sure to work with your schedule Week 04 on February 4th to be available at 1pm at the San Francisco Center for the Book to meet our client Colleen Stockmann.

1. Reed has sent Colleen an email introducing our team and asking her for confirmation of the team meeting on Wednesday February 4th, during week 04 at 1pm in the San Francisco Center for the Book.

*****Instructions for Posting a picture onto our blog********
Step 1: Save your files as jpg/gif/png, and save them in an easy to access spot on your computer.
Step 2: Login into our blog by going here: blogger.com Use the team email and password (can be found in the Week 01 email).

Step 3: Once you've logged in successfully, you will see the Dashboard. Under Manage Blogs, you will see a blue button that says "New Post." Please click this button.
Step 4: Create a simple title for yourself (in trying to keep our blog uniformed, please use the format: "Name | 3 Logo Concepts" ex. Erika | 3 Logo Concepts).
Step 5: Then simply click the "Add Image" button, which in under the compose tab and has a little landscape picture with a blue sky and a white border with a drop shadow. A window should pop-up unless you have all pop-up windows blocked.
Step 6: In this window you should click browse and navigate to the files you'd like to place onto the blog (your jpg/gif/png of your logos). Once you've got the file click "open" and then under "Choose Layout" click Center and Medium for the Image size.
Step 7: Check the box for "I accept the Terms of Service), and click "Upload Image." DO NOT CLOSE THIS WINDOW UNTIL YOU SEE "Your image has been added." the preview of your image, and click DONE.
(Note: if you have your 3 Logo concepts as 3 separate images, please repeat Steps 5 to 7 with each of the different images before continuing to Step 8.)
Step 8: Now simply click the orange button that says "Publish Post."
Step 9: Congratulations you've posted your Logo Concepts and ideas to our blog!
